Born in Vermont in 1999, Caroline Averill is a hyper-realism artist working primarily in colored pencil and graphite. Caroline graduated from the University of Vermont with a BS in neuroscience and studio art in 2021. After spending several months in Florence, Italy studying traditional Renaissance painting techniques such as fresco and egg tempura, she turned to colored pencil in an attempt to capture the level of detail often seen in the art she studied. Her recent work consists primarily of large colored pencil pieces depicting mundane objects on a white background. This intentional juxtaposition aims to provoke a sense of nostalgia and highlight the details of items that typically go unnoticed in everyday life. Caroline is currently pursuing her MFA in drawing at the Paris College of Art in France, where she is expected or graduate in May 2025.
